hi, i'm kathryn.

I love covering life's oddities. I've interviewed yawping jousters at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. I've recorded the static buzz of the largest supercomputer in the world. I've shadowed DC's rodent control team during a routine rat extermination.

I began my public radio career as a producer for 1A, which sealed my fate as a devotee of daily news. After nearly five years at 1A, I left for Bloomberg News, where I launched and oversaw their flagship daily news podcast, The Big Take. I'm now back in the NPR stratosphere working on All Things Considered. Elsewhere, I've published work in The Washington Post, Slate, and DCist.

Outside working hours, you can find me making hyper-realistic food earrings out of clay, researching the deathcare industry, or reading Pete the Cat books with elementary school students. Oh, and I do a mean Gollum impression.

give me a holler

pitches. projects. silly little thoughts. or just saying hey.
